Bugs Bunny at the Bellagio (“BUGSLAGIO”)

Bugs Bunny Bellagio commission — Warner-era character illustration for a major hospitality/entertainment site.

BUGSLAGIO shows how Warner character fluency left the studio lot into public commissions.

The original acrylic painting was created for a Warner Bros. display at a men’s apparel show at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, where twenty ten-inch Bugs Bunny dolls were dressed by twenty leading fashion houses — Yves Saint Laurent, Hugo Boss, Givenchy, Bob Mackie, Bill Blass, Halston, Balenciaga, Chanel and Dior among them.

One hundred signed limited-edition prints of the art were given out at the event. The painting itself is one of a kind, framed in walnut with an engraved provenance plaque.
