Estate standards

Rights & Authenticity

How the estate presents authorship, certificates, image rights, collector descriptions, and product-use limits.

Authenticity and provenance

Product pages may include edition notes, signature information, certificate language, historical context, source listing data, and estate notes. When certificates of authenticity are offered, the exact certificate terms may vary by item, edition, and fulfillment record.

Edition and condition notes

Signed, numbered, artist proof, open-edition, vintage, original art, and estate-managed items should be reviewed by title and description before purchase. Buyers may ask for additional condition or provenance details before checkout.

Artwork and image rights

Purchase of any item gives the buyer ownership of that physical item only. It does not grant copyright ownership, trademark rights, image licensing rights, commercial reproduction rights, digital minting rights, print-on-demand rights, or rights to create derivative merchandise.

Merchandise and collaborations

T-shirts, products, bundles, and future Shopify merchandise should be treated as official estate-approved products only when they are listed or expressly approved by the estate. Unauthorized use of David Edward Byrd artwork, signatures, images, or product photography is prohibited.
